The MTV Video Music Awards 2020 are expected to be all about Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga. The two are considered favorites for the coveted music prize this year. Both singers have been nominated in a total of nine categories, as MTV has now announced. For their song "Rain On Me" they can even win "Music Video of the Year", "Song of the Year" and "Best Collaboration".
This is the competition
Gaga and Grande, however, have stiff competition. The Canadian singer The Weeknd and the recently extremely successful American singer Billie Eilish were each nominated six times. In addition to all the stars mentioned so far, rap veteran Eminem with Juice Wrld, who died at the end of 2019, her rap colleagues Future and Drake and pop sensation Taylor Swift are also fighting for the award for best video.
In addition to Gaga, Justin Bieber, DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, Post Malone and The Weeknd are nominated for "Artist of the Year". Fans can now vote for their favorites on the awards website. The ceremony is then scheduled to take place on August 30th. The best newcomer, pop, R&B, hip-hop, rock and alternative songs are also recognized. In addition, because of the Corona crisis, prizes will be awarded for the best music video from your own home and for the best quarantine performance for the first time.
