For years, Britney Spears fans have been demanding the FreeBritney movement to free the singer from her father's guardianship. However, some are now apparently using means that the Los Angeles police have called into action. The judge in charge of the trial, Brenda Penny, is said to have received numerous death threats from fanatical supporters of the star. This is reported by the US site "TMZ".
Penny has made herself unpopular with many fans over the past week by her decision not to have father Jamie Spears' guardianship removed anytime soon. Britney Spears' attorney Mathew Rosengart had filed a motion to bring forward a hearing scheduled for September.
Incapacitated for 13 years
The rationale for the move read: "While a two-month wait for a hearing in the filing may not seem significant in the context of 13 years, Ms. Spears shouldn't be forced to continue to feel traumatized, no to be able to sleep and continue suffering." According to "TMZ", however, the judge did not see enough evidence to arrange for an earlier transfer and immediate release.
Spears was placed under guardianship in 2008 and her father Jamie was appointed guardian at the time. The 39-year-old has been fighting against this guardianship for some time. She had been approved to choose a new lawyer in July. Rosengart then officially filed an application to replace the singer's father as financial guardian.
