His family and closest friends said goodbye to Dirk Bach behind closed doors. As the 'Berliner Kurier' reports, the actor's body was cremated early Sunday morning. At dusk his urn was buried in Cologne's Melaten Cemetery.
On Saturday evening there was a very personal and emotional funeral service with people from Bach's closest circle, the undertaker Christoph Kuckelkorn told the newspaper. Only 20 guests said goodbye to the entertainer. Among them Bach's parents and husband Thomas, as well as his longtime girlfriend Hella von Sinnen and her partner Cornelia Scheel.
"An unusual funeral," said the undertaker of the 'Bild'. Unusual because no priest was present and the guests neither wore black nor gave speeches. "We wanted to celebrate his life and not mourn his death," said one of those present.

The following day, nine of the mourners met at the Melaten Cemetery in Cologne and laid a rose on the light brown wooden block that temporarily adorns the grave.
Bach died on October 1st in his Berlin apartment at the age of 51. According to the public prosecutor's office, the cause of death is suspected to be heart failure.
