It was her first appearance after the sudden death of friend and colleague Dirk Bach. Sonja Zietlow appeared in a good mood at a benefit gala from 'Radio 7' and everyone wondered how the 44-year-old was actually doing. "I'm fine," she revealed in an interview with RTL.

"You can't change things in the past, you can only deal with them properly. I know that Mr. Bach was very, very supportive of my cause and that's why I also know that we are doing the right thing here."

It sounds as if Sonja Zietlow had thought carefully beforehand about what she would say to the press when asked about her deceased boyfriend.

One day after the 51-year-old's death, Sonja Zietlow wrote these apparently desperate words on her website: "How is that supposed to work? How can you go to the theater tomorrow? How can you go to the German TV Awards and celebrate a fleeting insignificance that is now even clearer? How can you turn on the TV knowing that you're the only canned one out there?"

In the meantime she has apparently come to terms with the fact that time cannot be turned back. But that certainly doesn't diminish the grief for her good friend. In the interview, she didn't want to talk about whether Sonja Zietlow will moderate the RTL jungle camp without Dirk Bach next year.

Zietlow and Bach moderated the RTL jungle camp together for nine years and became the secret stars of the show. Bach then died suddenly of heart failure on October 1, 2012.
