The 70-year-old actor was honored with the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Movie Made for TV or Limited Series for his role as doctor Samuel Finnix in 'Dopesick', but he kept presenter Salma Hayek a long time coming, because he was still on the toilet at the time.
The 'House of Gucci' actress announced: "And the award goes to Michael Keaton, 'Dopesick'." The audience kept clapping while waiting for the actor to take the stage. Salma joked during the slightly longer break: "Are you kidding me? I have stage fright. Come on, Michael! Come on, Michael!" Michael then blamed the busy men's room for his delay. He began his speech by saying, "Thank you. Sorry! I rushed to the men's room. It was full by the way. That's so nice, thank you. Really, I'm really grateful." The 'Spotlight' star fought back tears as he dedicated his award to his late nephew, who died of an overdose in 2016. "I've sent my precautionary thanks to everyone involved, but most of all… given the subject matter, this is for my nephew Michael and my sister Pam. I lost my nephew Michael to drugs and it hurts," Keaton said.
