The pro surfer is raising children Emil-Ocean, Yoko and Merlin with her husband Peer Kusmagk. The 31-year-old, who recently emigrated to Mallorca with the whole family, is very proud of her little gang of little rascals. On Instagram, Janni now openly admits that she always likes to keep an eye on her kids.
"It's official - I'm outing myself and professing myself… to the 'helicopter mother'," writes the Spaniard by choice on her account. "Head held high and pride. Because I'm absolutely fed up with being put in a drawer created from your point of view out of carelessness, laziness, inability or the decision of other people to choose a different life model.“
The blonde is annoyed by the prejudices that are often held against her. "'Just being there for the kids…' What does that mean?!" she gets excited. "Just take on the responsibility that's due to us parents, just making sure that a hand is there if one of the children needs help because they can't do it themselves."
As a mother, she likes to follow the motto "Help me to do it myself", and she stands by that. "Always by your side. Until you don't need me anymore. A real helicopter that circles until at some point no more help is needed,” adds Janni. "I've always done it, but it's only gradually that I don't really care how others think of it." The emigrant is certain: "Helicopters are super cool."
