What a confession! Moderator Peer Kusmagk openly admits to having used violence against women in previous relationships. The 46-year-old is now apologizing for International Women's Day.
Open words from Peer Kusmagk
It's a surprisingly honest confession from the actor. Kusmagk reflects with a black and white photo: “Domestic violence has many faces. I'm one of them, because I've also used the power of my voice and words to assert myself and my opinion within a relationship with women. That too is violence and not okay and I am ashamed of it afterwards.”
Further, the father of three explains how he has changed and encourages other men to get help as well: "Dealing with anger can be learned and was important for me to be able to live in peace with each other on equal terms."
Career vs. Alcohol Addiction
We actually know Kusmagk as a good-humoured presenter from breakfast television or as a happy jungle camp winner: Peer Kusmagk, who was born in Berlin, has been successfully in the public eye for years. Most recently, the dad of three even acted as a life coach. Helped people find their ultimate happiness. Despite years of successful career, the actor himself suffered from severe alcohol addiction for a long time. An addiction that Kusmagk is still struggling with today, as can be seen in the video:
Peer wants to wake up other men
"You'll be dead in ten years if you keep drinking like this!" This devastating prognosis from his doctor finally led to a change of heart in Peer Kusmagk a few years ago. Wanting to live, he went into rehab and turned his life around. Then he fell in love with his current wife Janni, with whom he now has three children.
Today the actor knows that it is important to admit mistakes: "Today, on International Women's Day, I would like to encourage people to get up even more, to seek or allow help. Because flowers don't help against psychological injuries."
