- In 1997, Aaliyah sang 'Journey to the Past', the theme song for the animated film 'Anastasia'. This one was nominated for an Oscar.
- Although Aaliyah found early success in the music business, she took an extended artistic hiatus in 1998 to graduate high school.
- Aaliyah was cast in 'The Matrix: Reloaded', the second part of the 'Matrix' trilogy, but passed away shortly after filming began. When the film was released in 2003, it did not feature the scenes already shot with Aaliyah.
- Shortly before her death, Aaliyah acted in the movie 'Queen of the Damned'. However, since the film's voice acting was not finished, her brother Rashad took over some voice parts for Aaliyah's character.
