Kevin Federline is defending the controversial guardianship his ex-wife Britney Spears was under for around 13 years. In an interview, part of which has already aired on British broadcaster ITV, the father of her two children claims that father Jamie Spears "saved his daughter back then".
I saw a man who really cared
After Federline and Britney Spears' marriage ended in 2007, her father came to him and asked for advice. His daughter was bad, but he didn't know how to help. "I saw a man who really cared and wanted everything to be okay," Federline says in the interview.
Sons reportedly don't want to see Britney Spears
In another interview clip, Federline explains that her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James haven't visited their mother for months. "The boys have decided they don't want to see her right now," Federline explains. According to media reports, the two should not have attended the wedding of Spears and Sam Asghari in June. That was Sean and Jayden's decision, Federline says.
Britney Spears then responded to the claims in an Instagram story. It saddens her "that my ex-husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children". As everyone knows, raising teenagers is never easy."I gave them everything," Spears continued.
Federline has custody
Britney Spears was married to former backup dancer Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007. After the divorce, he was awarded custody of their sons. In January 2008, the singer barricaded herself in her home with her children. In the same month, Britney Spears was forcibly admitted to a clinic. Her father was appointed guardian by a court. It wasn't until November 2021 that a judge lifted Jamie Spears' guardianship.
