The Royal Ascot horse race is a fashion eye-catcher year after year. The event is famous for the extravagant robes of the ladies present and even more for the hats and fascinators of the royal spectators. This year, Duchess Kate in particular attracted everyone's attention. Because with her outfit she paid tribute to her deceased mother-in-law, Lady Diana.
Bright Kate at the horse race
Kate opted for a white polka dot dress with brown dots at this year's horse race. In addition, she combined a matching brown fascinator, which was decorated with white flowers. This one was even more eye-catching because her long brown hair was styled in a bun. Prince William's wife wore her most beautiful smile, of course.
This style was obviously inspired by her mother-in-law Diana, the "Queen of Hearts". She wore an almost identical dress with blue polka dots and shoulder pads at Ascot 33 years ago, very much in the late 80's style.

Fashion Queen Kate
Kate also proved her fashion skills when it came to accessories and opted for timeless diamond and pearl earrings, which even came from her mother-in-law Diana.
Kate's sense of style is really no surprise: she has often presented herself as a stylish duchess. It's all the greater that she caused such a great surprise with this fashionable homage.
