His partner Lilian De Carvalho Monteiro accompanied him to court every day. Finally, his eldest son Noah was also at his side. Since March 21, Boris Becker has been on trial in London for possibly delaying insolvency on 24 counts. A jury found the former German tennis star guilty of four counts three weeks ago. But what are the consequences? Today the London court announces the sentence. There could be a suspended sentence, imprisonment or a fine. In the video we look back at the course of the process.
Boris is emotionally hit hard
On Friday it will be decided what Boris Becker's near future will look like: It is clear that he will be punished. The only question is: How high is the pen alty? Probation, fine or jail - everything seems to be possible. Could the four-count guilty verdict be enough to fundamentally change Becker's life? "Boris is emotionally hit hard," Becker biographer Christian Schommers is certain. The trial is probably the toughest situation Boris has ever experienced.
The indictment had accused Becker of concealing parts of his assets - including real estate, accounts and some of the most important trophies of his career - in his 2017 bankruptcy proceedings. Becker had always denied the allegations. The grand jury disagreed and found him guilty on four counts. Judge Deborah Taylor will now decide on the sentence against the German. Boris Becker can still appeal both against the guilty verdict and against the sentence.
