The 42-year-old author wrote the young adult survival thriller under the pen name Rektok Ross and now that it is being made into a film she would 'love' it if someone like Ligh Janiak directed it as she horror genre because of her work on the 'Fear Street' trilogy.
Now interviewed by 'Collider', Kotcher said: "I'd love to have someone on board who really appreciates horror thrillers from the late 80's and 90's. Someone like Leigh Janiak, who just did the 'Fear Street' trilogy. I think she's amazing. I love her.” Other directors Kotcher could well envision are the Duffer brothers Ross and Matt."I know they only do TV, but the Duffer Brothers do."
The author is not interested in making a horror film out of her book. Rather, she wants her story to have the same type of shooting and staging that she knows from her favorite films. So as a director, she wants someone "who you can say has the heart and the passion, because I feel like it's not horror, but it has a lot of that love that goes into those late '90s movies years." She added, "That's kind of what I'm imagining. There are many Easter eggs in the story, there is also a lot of fun. I want someone who can shoot that and bring that feeling to the screen."
