The public exchange of blows between Sophia Thomalla and Lukas Podolski a few months ago is bearing surprising fruit. The soccer star and the presenter now pose side by side for an advertising campaign.

A truck full of sand

The public but harmless quarrel between Podolski and Thomalla made a lot of headlines in May. The moderator had 13 tons of sand unloaded in front of Podolski's sports park in Bergheim. The 32-year-old had ordered the tipper using a special app that can be used to order vehicles loaded with sand, crushed stone or gravel."I thought playing sand could always be used as an athlete," Thomalla joked in an Instagram story that showed the truck with the load.

"That happens when @sophiatomalla thanks you for a kebab," the footballer commented on the action in a repost. He had previously sent the 32-year-old a doner kebab to her office.

We can use every helping hand

Last but not least, Thomalla even offered the footballer a job. "We can use every helping hand." An offer that the footballer apparently gratefully accepted. "Schüttflix is pleased to be able to sign world champion Lukas Podolski as a new testimonial for the markets of Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria and especially Poland," says a press release from the company.

The soon-to-be new father of another daughter is happy about his new tasks: "When Sophia came around the corner with the idea, I immediately thought to myself: It's never been stupid! I respect the hard, honest work of the boys the construction and I can handle apps. Everything she showed and explained to me makes total sense. It's as easy as ordering a taxi."

Hard - but warm

Thomalla is also happy about her successful transfer coup: "In Poldi we have a world champion in our team who speaks the language of the industry. An honest skin, clever and simply a guy with whom you can have a beer after work want to drink." Thomalla is now in fact Podolski's boss. And how does that feel for the footballer? "Hard - but sincere," laughs the 37-year-old.
