Just a few hours after his mother Anne Heche died one week after her serious car accident, her eldest son Homer made an emotional statement for the first time.
Rest in Peace Mom. I love you
"My brother Atlas and I lost our mother," he said in a statement released by US magazine People. "After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I was left with a deep, wordless sadness. Hopefully my mom will be pain free and start exploring what I like to envision as her eternal freedom.”
Homer also thanks everyone who sent him love. "Over the past six days, thousands of friends, family and fans have given me their hearts," he continues. "I'm grateful for her love, as well as the support of my dad Coley and stepmom Alexi who continue to be my rocks during this time." Homer ends his statement with the two sentences, "Rest in peace Mom. I love you."
Homer Heche is from Anne's relationship with Coley Laffoon. Her son Atlas was born during her relationship with James Tupper.
Cocaine and fentanyl found in blood
The devastating accident happened on the morning of August 5 in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles. Anne's car crashed into a house at high speed and only came to a stop after almost ten meters. A fire then broke out. According to the police, 59 firefighters were on duty and it took 65 minutes to extinguish the fire. While Anne's condition initially appeared stable and she was still conscious, the extent of her injuries was only later revealed.
Right after the crash, speculation arose as to whether the actress was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. According to media reports, a blood test finally revealed that the 53-year-old had consumed cocaine and the painkiller fentanyl. However, she is said not to have been drunk.
